Long-time rivals in the North American Soccer League, the A-League and USL, the Timbers and Whitecaps to compete in MLS for the first time in the match Fox Soccer Channel this weekend. This and previews all the action.

Columbus Crew vs Philadelphia Union, 7:30 p.m.

New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls, 7:30 p.m.

Thierry Henry took the top spot the MLS Golden Boot with his 12th goal of the season, a long range curling effort in the 2-2 draw with Chicago. Henry last two goals both coming to strike outside the penalty area. He has three goals in the distance this season. Pool League goalkeeper Chris Konopka became the fifth goaltender to start a game for the Red Bulls when he played against Chicago. Five teams in the history of MLS have used five different goalkeepers in a single season, most recently was the Toronto FC in 2008.A goal and a strike against her by Thierry Henry sent the Red Bulls on their way to a 2-1 win in the first meeting between the clubs, June 10 at Red Bull Arena.

Houston Dynamo vs Real Salt Lake, 20:30

In a small tournament, the game of pool can be a bit of formality. Norway was the only team that gave us no trouble and we expected to see in the final, but when they fought against Switzerland in panic among the semi-finals of the boys. One, we knew that the Swiss could not give us a good game and two, the younger wanted nothing to do with a little dirty, slightly rough on the Swiss side.The Revolution have positioned themselves near the sideline and the acclaimed Norwegian when returning the second half.

The third time we faced the Norwegians would be the closest match. We actually dragged by the second half, but much like the Ravens Steelers bullied each year when necessary, we also pulled late to win. Josh Berger (Skidmore) scored the first marker and I scored the next two. Secret of my success was to have been my compression shorts volts. Final score 3-2.
