Slidell's Pinewood Porpoises win St. Tammany Swim League A Team meet

Pinewood amassed 1,742 points to finish just ahead of Cross Gates Athletic Club with a total of 1,504. Slidell Athletic Club came in fourth with 709, and Tanglewood scored 335 for sixth place.

Combined team results saw Pinewood in first with 1,742.5; Cross Gates, 1,504.5, second; Lakeside Gators, 953, third; Slidell Athletic Club, 709, fourth; Buccaneer Village, 435, fifth; Tanglewood Tarpons, 335, sixth; Huntwick Village, 247, seventh; and Picayune Blue Tide, 169, eighth.

Jim Stephanak, Ronald Baylor, Doug Phillips, Shelly Pastor, Gail Shuster join the Chamber 2011-12 Board Of Directors

The Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce has elected its new chair, Jim Stephanak of Kalamazoo Gazette, and three new board members – Ronald Baylor from Miller Canfield, Shelly Pastor from Millennium Restaurant Group, Doug Phillips from Skanska and Gail Shuster from Plante & Moran – to the Chamber’s Board of Directors this year. The Chamber Board of Directors is a group of volunteers that help guide and direct the Chamber’s mission, goals and overall business operations, including government and policy-making responsibilities. Ronald Baylor is a principal lawyer at Miller Canfield. He counsels individuals, businesses and local governments on a broad range of environmental issues, including compliance and permitting, waste and wastewater disposal, clean-ups and environmental issues arising in the purchase, sale and redevelopment of real property. In addition he handles injury, commercial, and environmental litigation, disputes about cost recovery and insurance coverage, and defends against regulatory enforcement actions before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Doug Phillips joined Skanska USA Building in 2007 and is senior director of Business Development for Skanska’s Midwest operations. He is responsible for developing new client relationships that lead to successful construction projects in the healthcare, education and commercial market sectors. He is a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional and a Professional Affiliate member of the AIA. Shelly Pastor is a founding partner and CFO of Kalamazoo-based Millennium Restaurant Group, which owns and operates several restaurant properties in Southwest Michigan, including Martell’s, Epic Bistro & Central City Taphouse, The Union Cabaret & Grille, Fieldstone Grill, Cityscape Event Center, Millennium Catering, The Idler Riverboat and most recently, The Wine Loft. Pastor, a life-long Kalamazoo resident, has been in the restaurant business for 27 years with the past 12 years in ownership. Gail Shuster oversees all tax functions for Plante & Moran PLLC’s Southwest Michigan tax practice and directly serves a regional client base of both manufacturing and service industry clients operating both domestically and internationally. For more than seven years, Gail has been leading the ongoing growth of the Southwest Michigan Tax Practice and has been integral in the expansion of the Kalamazoo and St. Joseph Michigan Plante & Moran public accounting and consulting practices.
