Chris Thompson kommt nach Bergheim

Bergheim (red).  Das Musikfestival "Summer in the City" ist inzwischen zu einer ersten Adresse im Veranstaltungskalender der Stadt Bergheim geworden. In den letzten beiden Jahren lockte es tausende Musikbegeisterte aller Altersgruppen in die Bergheimer Innenstadt. Neben den bekannten lokalen und regionalen Bands sorgten vor allem Topacts wie "Queensberry" und im letzten Jahr "Marquess" für eine ausgelassene und friedvolle Stimmung in der Kreisstadt. Auch in diesem Jahr wird es wieder ein absolutes Highlight geben. Dank vieler Sponsoren konnte der Initiator dieses beliebten Musik-Festivals, Uwe Ulbrich, die Veranstaltung wieder auf die Beine stellen und einen bekannten Weltstar in die Metropole an der Erft holen: Chris Thompson mit Band. Man könnte ihn auch als "die Stimme", the Voice, bezeichnen. Denn er war die Stimme der legendären Manfred Mann's Earth Band und des Alan Parson Projekts. Welthits wie "Blinded by the light" oder "Mighty Quinn" sicherten ihm einen Platz in der Weltelite des Musikbusiness. Auch die aktuelle House-Coverversion von "For you", wurde europaweit ein Clubhit. Hier lieh er seine Stimme den "Disco Boys". Das musikalische Top Event findet am Samstag, 16. Juli, mit 14 Musikgruppen auf vier Freiluft-Bühnen und in fünf Lokalen statt. The Alan Parsons Project was a collaboration between songwriter Eric Woolfson and studio engineer and producer Alan Parsons. Parsons cut his teeth on projects such as The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” and Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” He won a Grammy for his engineering on Pink Floyd’s masterpiece from 1973. Dean of Online and Individualized Learning at Mountain State University in Beckley, WV. Associate Professor teaching Communication and Media courses.

Graduate of Marshall University, West Virginia University, Kentucky Christian University and Mountain State University. Senior Certified WebCT/Blackboard Trainer and Blackboard CE/Vista Product Specialist.

Dissertation on institutional rebranding (see newriver.net ) was the 2009 international winner of the Alice L. Beeman Dissertation Award for Outstanding Research in Communications and Marketing for Higher Education Advancement and was the 2008 Leo and Margaret Goodman-Malamuth Outstanding Dissertation Award for Research in Higher Education Administration.

Placed as a winner in five Active Industry Research Contemporary Hit Radio "Pick the Hits" competitions from 1983 through 1987. Each competition had 31 winners. Placed 2nd (1st among radio participants), 6th, 10th (twice), and 21st in the five competitions.

Awarded 14 gold & platinum records and an international sales award from various record companies.
