Counties plan for state government shutdown
At their meeting June 14, Ramsey County Commissioners directed county staff to “quantify and categorize” the impact of a state shutdown on the county and to prioritize use of county resources in the event of a shutdown. County leaders have been working for several weeks to explore potential shutdown scenarios and to formulate plans for continuing essential services. Washington County Manager Jim Schug said some county employees may lose work due to the state shutdown but it remains too early to issue notifications. Schug said state health care recipients received notice of possible service interruptions last week and many were calling the county with questions.
