Alabama Tornado – Disaster Goods and Volunteers | Apostolic News

May 1, 2011 – Maylene,  Alabama.  URGENT REQUEST FOR DISASTER RELIEF AND VOLUNTEERS

We now have a working plan in place for disaster relief.  Rev. Scotty Slayton of Compassion Services International (UPCI) and Mark Majors are working directly with Bro. Markham in bringing this together.  A Medical Team should be in Tuscaloosa today working out of Pastor Edmonson’s church, since he is adjacent to the greatest crisis area.

The Alabama District Disaster Relief Fund is investing several thousand dollars in getting products to Cullman and setting up storage pods in Bessemer.  There are also contributions coming from out of state assisting in these areas.  Thanks to Evangelist Shawn Meeks for coordinating the Cullman area.

Also, communication is limited in the North Alabama area, but Rev. Shane Stewart is coordinating relief efforts for the Madison/Harvest area.  We will pass along information as it comes to us.

As for our main effort, we are basing our relief efforts out of The Sanctuary in Bessemer, pastored by Todd Bertram.  Our greatest needs are the very heavily populated areas in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.  We will attempt to get products to all needy areas.  Pastor Michael Markham is coordinating the state-wide effort, but primarily focusing on the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area.

All items can be delivered to the address below. Any tractor-trailers will need to be coordinated through Bro. Markham (205-938-0182) for unloading.  (1321 4th Ave South West, Bessemer, AL 35022)

Our churches can collect items and deliver them to the Bessemer location.  We will begin delivering items as soon as they are received.  Also, donations can be made here by clicking the Crackers (peanut butter, cheese crackers, etc.)
