Family of Girl Missing Since '73 Offers Reward For Tips
DAYTON, Ohio -- A $2,500 reward is being offered for information that leads authorities to the body of a 13-year-old girl who has been missing since 1973, her family and investigators announced today in Dayton. Sharon Pretorius, a Fairview High School freshman at the time, was collecting money for her Dayton Daily News paper route, when she went missing from the area of Canfield Road and Cornell Drive in Dayton. The girl was 5 foot 7, 140 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Cold case detective Patty Tackett said, "She has never been found, nor her remains have never been found." A recent tip led investigators to the area of Hoover and Gunther Avenues, where they have been searching for the body of Sharon Pretorious for several weeks. Mary Carol Pretorius said the family was filled with hope for the first time in years. "We went out tp be there because it just started bubbling up," said Marycarol Pretorius, the mother of the missing girl. Sharon's Uncle, Art Fabian said, "Always wondering where is she? What would she be like? What happened to her?" Investigators believe she was kidnapped and murdered. The search has not turned up any new evidence, but detectives are not yet ready to give up searching at the dig site because it is only three miles from where Sharon was last seen delivering newspapers. "There may be some people who are deceased who are involved in this. I would hope that some family members or anybody who has some information would be willing to come forward," said Tackett. After 38 years, family members just want some answers. Art Fabian said, "We are simply looking for information on where Sharon's remains are now. We want closure." Anyone with information about the Sharon Pretorius case should call Detective Patty Tackett at 937-333-7109.Dayton Oh News - News

Senate panel OKs leadership requirements for Air Force Institute of Technology
By Jessica Wehrman Washington Bureau
WASHINGTON - A Senate committee late Thursday night passed a bill that includes a provision to beef up leadership requirements for the top position at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
The provision is aimed at ensuring strong leadership for the engineering and technology school located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and earlier this year was included in the House-passed version of the Defense authorization bill. Lawmakers pushing for the provision say it will help reinforce AFIT’s reputation as an educational powerhouse for the military, as well as provide for more long-term security for the school.
Also related to Wright-Patterson, Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he successfully removed a provision in the bill that would have ended flexible hiring practices at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson.
The bill passed Thursday also included increased funding for a series of initiatives, some managed by the Air Force Research Lab, aimed at researching and developing advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. The technology is used by the Air Force and much of the work is done at or near Wright-Patterson.
Finally, the bill eliminated $14 million included in the Obama budget proposal that would’ve brought the space shuttle to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. After that proposal was heavily criticized by groups in Texas and Florida, four shuttles were ultimately sent to Washington, D.C., Florida, New York and California.

Of the 3,6 or 12 oz. cuts the petite filet is usually the most tender. However, because oversight funding in this geographical area is overlooked concerning Air Force Research Park affiliations the grunters forgo tenderness for the largest filet when budget cutting is only a buzz word…but not a reality. The Research Park which is nothing more than an area of the “People’s Land” given out to brown-nosed squatters is proof. While donning my cowboy hat and spurs and partaking in a beefy 12 ouncer at the Research Park last week, I realized that Corporate Welfare is much more convenient to my lifestyle than poor folk welfare. I mean if you are going to snuffle and grunt at the public trough then snuffle and grunt with the ones who know an advantage, then simply get to know the Wright people and sidle up to bar, legal or otherwise. Welfare at the speed of business…thanks Governor Kasich…damn the Teachers…full speed ahead. Yee Haa! Of course I crashed the party so who threw it is irrelevant; the important thing is to don the hat and partake. Petite for the masses…full Hog for me.
