Herschell Gordon Lewis' 'Blood Trilogy' Coming to Blu-ray
By Marc PattersonPut me down for this one. High-Def Digest reported today that Image Entertainment will be releasing Herschell Gordon Lewis’ Blood Trilogy on September 27th. This will be the first time any of Lewis’ films have been given the high-def treatment though we’re not sure what Image has in store. They could go cheap and do a quick up-convert and simple repackage of their 2000 DVD release, or they could actually take some time to do it right. However, with a price point of less than $18 I highly doubt this will be much more than a straight dump to Blu. As we know more we’ll tell you more. (Personally – on an unrelated side note – I’d be more than happy if someone did a fantastic restoration of the The Gore Gore Girls, loading it up with all sorts of extra features. Bar none, that one is my favorite HG Lewis flick. Any takers out there?)
Same as the previous DVD release the Blu-ray package will include: Blood Feast (1963) – An Egyptian caterer kills various women in suburban Miami to use their body parts to bring to life a dormant Egyptian goddess, while an inept police detective try to track him down.
Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964) - Six people are lured into a small Deep South town for a Centennial celebration where the residents proceed to kill them one by one as revenge for the town’s destruction during the Civil War.
Color Me Blood Red (1965) – A crackpot artist kills various people to use their blood as his new crimson red color for his paintings.
