But Burch left some room for experimentation, adding lines of the navy raffia fringe jacket chiffon, opting for grazing the floor with three length chiffon dresses and put his own spin polished backpacks and sandals platform, two trends that emerged last spring.

During the presentation J. Crew, the crowd was crazy when Beyoncé, dressed in close-fitting mini-gold glitter, and her sister Solange Knowles arrived. Then the spotlight turned to a women's collection designed by Marissa Webb and designed by Frank Muytjens male, under the watchful eye of J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons.

For women, eye-popping combinations of fuchsia, coral, lemon, aqua green and Kelly were balanced by looks that embraces essential preparation: trench coats, skirts and a small range of Chambray, navy and red. Now, "the effect Jenna" - eccentric color combinations, the mishmash of styles Mens formal and casual - no surprise. But come next spring, colored claws - a mint green bag, in particular - and shoes and pastel prints are what customers will covet.

A Vera Wang, after Beyoncé made a quick change of clothes and slipped quietly in the front row, channeled the designer Alice in Wonderland and 18th century wallpaper (yes, you read that right) in a collection that seemed vaguely futuristic , a little trippy and - in some cases - downright confusing. The designer is ready to experiment with texture, and looks certain - a set of mint with a quilted jacket and chiffon skirt, for example - have highlighted his talent in this arena.

But appearances of many, especially those combined with, peplum-waist top with a little more than panties, raised questions about that Wang has in mind in the collection - certainly no more conservative clients or those who love romantic draped and pleated past collections. At least some good news for those who love leggings: Wang psychedelic prints actually made the staple skin-hugging looks like a futuristic armor, who felt decidedly fresh.

“this is more like Miami Vice by way of Jersey Shore, spliced with an old International Male catalog.”

When I read this, my expectations plummeted, so I was pleasantly surprised.  I actually like those very loose trousers, the ones that are fitted or body-skimming through the hips and fall loosely from there. I think fabric slipping & sliding over attractive flesh is far sexier than fabric molded to said flesh like a sausage casing. 

They used some brains putting the yellow linen(?) jacket & slacks on a dark skinned fella, we white folk just need to stay away from yellow, unless we’re brunettes with some olive to our skin tone, in my admittedly color-choice-challenged opinion.  Designers in general seem to be blind to the fact that a lot of colors look waaay yummier on darker skin and fail to take advantage of that fact on the runway, IMO.

That opening over-strapped leather number brought to mind a leather jacket I’d blocked out of my mind. One beloved by a guy I dated & dearly liked but which made me cringe & reconsider the cost/benefit ratio of the relationship whenever he sported that damn jacket. It was just wrong. Wrong color, wrong proportions, wrong & he loved it so much. Thanks for the memory, fellas, uh, I think.
