Chiappetta sees 'depressed' Argentina

Joey Chiappetta , a New Berlin native who played at Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School, is preparing for his sophomore season at Lipscomb by spending time at Centro de Formacion de Futbolistas de Alto Rendimiento – CEFAR – in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He's agreed to write a journal for Wisconsin Soccer Central about his experiences at the academy, where he's training alongside mainly professional players. Here's the latest from Chiappetta:

Saturday, July 9

Warmed up today with passing drills and big possession before playing soccer tennis with Group A. Half of us then went to the gym to do a full upper-body work out while the other half played Colegiales, a top Third Division team. After working out, our group went to do six speed and agility drills. We then went and played a 30-minute half game. I got in for the entire second half of the game against a mix of substitutes and starters.

Sunday, July 10

Warmed up with possession and passing drills and started running over different ball movements in our 4-4-2 system before scrimmaging against the Barcelona Under-17 team. Our system is considered a 4-4-2 but could be called a 4-2-2-2 with two more defensive central midfielders and two high wingers.

Monday, July 11

Morning: Warmed up with possession before doing a giant speed and agility drill. We then played 6v3 with three groups and switching those in the middle through the groups. We cooled down with 100-, 200-, 300- and 400-meter runs.

Afternoon: We warmed up with some different touches on the ball and shuttle passing before playing a 1v1 type drill where one person has the ball and one doesn’t. The one with the ball must keep it by passing with the four people on the outside and getting the ball back. People on the outside have two touches. We finished up with 100-meter sprints.

Tuesday, July 12

Morning: Played possession for a while then went over team tactics for our game tomorrow. We then concluded with light jogs.

Afternoon: We warmed up with some skills before doing three speed and agility drills. We concluded with the same 1v1 game.

Wednesday, July 13

Morning: Went to the gym to work on the upper body and abs. Then warmed up a little before playing 45 minutes against the reserve team of a Fourth Division team.

Afternoon: Worked the entire body for two hours in the gym before doing 20 minutes of light jogging.

Men's 3v3 Open Indoor Soccer - San Diego, CA - Joimo

If a player signs up as an individual (not for a specific team) they will be placed on a team of 4 to 6 players, inclusive. Every player that signs up as an individual will be provided a Joimo t-shirt that they must wear to every game. Teams made up of individual sign ups are permitted to bring walk on players (see Walk Ons) as long as the majority of the team votes that it is okay. A Joimo sports director will decide if the votes, for and against, are equal. If a player signs up for a specific team they must have a minimum of 4 players on their roster. There is no maximum to the number of players they can have on their roster. However, once the league starts, the roster is considered final. Any additional players, not on the roster, can play for the team as a walk on (see Walk Ons). Joimo t-shirts will only be provided for the first 6 players and each additional player must purchase a Joimo t-shirt for $10 (price is subject to change). A team is allowed to bring an unlimited number of walk on players to the each game but they are subject to pay $10 per game and pass all player eligibility. In addition, the walk on player must sign a waiver of liability and play for only one team in that league. The walk on player will be added to that team's roster. No new walk on players will be allowed to play during the playoffs, only walk on players who are on the roster and have played at least one game in the regular season. All participants must be at least 18 years of age or older and bring proper identification documentation (driver's license, ID card, passport, or military id) to every game for check in. The referee and/or a Joimo sports director will check in each player before the game is played and no player shall be allowed to play if not checked in. No jewelry, earrings, hats, or bracelets will be allowed in play unless properly bandaged and approved by the referee. Each player must wear their Joimo team shirts. If a walk on player is present they will have to wear a shirt of similar color. Shin guards and cleats/shoes are required. Players without proper equipment will be sent off the field until the referee is satisfied. In this case another player on the same team will be able to come on the field. A game ball of size 5 will be provided by the league. Players substituting into the game cannot enter the field until the player leaving the game is on the sideline or completely off the field.
