When he first became interested in an electric vehicle, Webb said he shopped around and found that they didn’t go faster than 39 mph. Since he was living in Tennessee at the time, 17 miles from the nearest good-sized town, that didn’t seem acceptable. So he started searching the Internet and discovered that a number of manufacturers offered the materials and instructions to make the conversion himself. He eventually selected Electrical Vehicles America. From the outside, the red pickup looks like any other truck. It’s a different story under the hood, however, where an array of electrical gadgets have replaced the gas engine. It’s equipped with a five-speed, clutchless transmission. A 12-volt vacuum pump runs the power brakes. He’s hooked up a heater, but not an air conditioner since the compressor would draw so much power. As a result, he doesn’t use the truck during the hottest summer months. That’s saying something, since the power is supplied by a bank of 24 lead acid golf cart batteries riding in a welded metal bin under the truck’s bed. They provide 144 volts to the motor. Webb said he charges the batteries at home every night, using a 220-volt plug, regardless of how far he’s driven during the day. He said the 8 to 10 hours of charging time each night has had a negligible effect on his electric bill. Eventually, technology is likely to make electric vehicles much more efficient. Webb said most automakers have battery technology plants, and refinements being made there are likely to change the industry significantly. He said he’s heard a new battery will be available later this year that will have half the weight but produce eight times the power.

I,m gonna try here but take this at your own risk.....best i can do is a 1988 with v-glide and resistors,..........are the motor studs lined up in a row right along the edge of the motor? ok if they are.....this diagram dosn,t have them marked but if your looking at your motor from the front of the cart looking down and back to it the stud nearest you has the cable running to the F&R switch......the stud next to that the cable runs to the resistor board left side........the 3rd one the cable runs to the charge receptical........the 4th one furthest away from you runs to the F&R switch........from the diagram the 4th cable mounts to lower part of F&R while the 1st cable mounts to the upper part of it..............again take this at your own risk as i don,t know how much is different between a 87 and an 88 but i,ll bet they are darn close and this diagram does not have motor studs marked...................
